The Auto Expo 2023 in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh introduced India's first solar car, 'Eva', developed by Pune-based EV start-up Vayve Mobility. The car, which features a solar roof panel that can be fitted on top of the car and sold separately and aims to cater to urban commuters.
The engineer, Bilal Ahmed, said he wanted to make a car for the disabled but "financial constraints" made it difficult. Keeping in mind that vehicles that run on alternative fuel are the future, Ahmed took an attempt to design this four-seater solar-powered hatchback.
A Belgian solar car team won its first World Solar Challenge crossing the finish line in Adelaide, Australia, on Thursday. The Agoria car beat the Japanese team car from Tokai University, which came in second place. The defending champion Dutch car NunaX had earlier caught fire and burst into flames about 260 kilometers (162 miles) from the finish, but the driver escaped unhurt, local media reported.
