Sitaram Yechury, 72, was admitted to AIIMS on 19 August 2024 due to pneumonia and passed away on 12 September 2024 at 3:05 pm.
Yechury was admitted to the Emergency Ward of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on August 19. He was later shifted to the intensive care unit. He succeeded Prakash Karat as the general secretary of the CPM in 2015.
CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury continued to be under treatment at AIIMS, where he was admitted for treatment of a lung infection on August 19.
