Reports suggest that two terrorists managed to flee the spot after firing upon the patrolling party, while one was neutralised by security forces in retaliatory fire.
Two youth were killed and nine others injured allegedly in Army firing at Ganovpora in Shopian yesterday when a stone-pelting mob targeted a convoy.
"Two terrorists were killed. We are looking for the third terrorist who escaped just as cordon was being laid. Operation has concluded now," IGP Police, Muneer told media.
The jawan, a resident of Saazan Keegam, has been identified as Irrfan Ahmad Mir.

Asked about the killing of a BJP youth leader in Shopian yesterday, Major General Raju said these were "acts of desperation" by the militants.
The operation was carried out in around 20 villages of Shopian to nab the hiding Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammad militants.
