According to the police officials, the terrorist was carrying arm and ammunition along with him.
A door-to-door search operation was carried by the security forces in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir early on Tuesday.
At least two militants have been gunned down in Jammu and Kashmir's SHopian district. The militants, yet to be identified, had reportedly attacked an army patrol party near Pinjura area of Shopian.

The security forces have gunned down 12 militants in last 48 hours. Earlier on Friday, six militants were killed in an encounter in Anantnag. They had also recovered arms and ammunition following the gunfight.
The gunfight is raging in Nadigam area. According to latest inputs, security forces are believed to have trapped at least 2-3 terrorists in the encounter.

The encounter started after a joint team of army, CRPF and SOG personnel laid a siege to Khudpora village.
"The 16 soldiers belonging to the elite Para-Commando Force. Some have been shifted to an Army base hospital in Srinagar for treatment," the police added.

The police have cordoned off the area and have launched a search operation.
Mehbooba asserted that dialogue was the only way forward to address the issue of terrorism in the state.
The bullet-ridden bodies of the three police personnel were recovered from a forested area near Shopian.
A joint operation in the area is being conducted by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir police.
