According to the Kashmir Zone Police, a total of two unidentified terrorists have been killed in the encounter so far.
According to the details, the encounter was reported from South Kashmir's Manihal area. Nearly two to three terrorists are also believed to be trapped in the area.
Police said on Sunday morning that repeated announcements were made to the hiding terrorists to surrender but the terrorists fired on the joint search party which was retaliated and so far one terrorist has been killed.
Arms and ammunition, including US-made M4 Carbine rifle and other incriminating materials were recovered from the site of encounter.
A terrorist was eliminated in an encounter with security forces in Sophian's Rawalpora area on Sunday, police said. "ShopianEncounterUpdate: 01 unidentified terrorist killed. Operation going on. Further details shall follow," Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
