The Sharda Peeth Temple, a symbol of the faith of Kashmiri Pandits, is about 5000 years old. Kashmir is the center of reverence for the whole of India including the Pandits.
Omar Abdullah welcomed reports that Islamabad would be opening the Sharda Peeth corridor leading to the ancient Sharda Peeth temple in the Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
Sources said the Indian government had made the request several times for opening of the corridor
Pakistan government has given a green signal to opening Sharda Peeth Corridor, a long-standing demand of Kashmiri Hindus.
