In Shamshera, Ranbir Kapoor is pitted against Sanjay Dutt who is playing an evil, merciless, cold-hearted brute force of nature, Shuddh Singh.
Ranbir Kapoor starrer 'Shamshera' has a Kalaripayattu-inspired edgy fight sequence which has been directed by Franz Spilhaus, who has previously choreographed films like the Denzel Washington starrer Safe House and Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's blockbuster 'War'.
While for Ranbir, saying yes to the script was a "no-brainer", Vaani Kapoor was particularly bowled over by the narration that she heard from the film's director Karan Malhotra.

The trailer of Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt's Shamshera was shared by the makers on Friday. In the two-minute-fifty-nine-second video, we see Dutt as Daroga Shuddh Singh, who is pitted against Ranbir Kapoor, who essays Shamshera.
Based on the pre-independence era, 'Shamshera' portrays the story of dacoits led by Ranbir Kapoor, whose only motive is to fight against the cruelty of the ruthless antagonist, played by Sanjay Dutt for the sake of the villagers.
Shamshera: Vaani Kapoor, the film's lead actress has shared her first look poster from the film. Before Vaani, the character poster of Sanjay Dutt was unveiled. In the film, he will be seen playing the character of Daroga Shuddh Singh while Vaani will be seen as Sona. The movie which features Ranbir Kapoor as Shamshera will release in the theatres on July 22, 2022.
