Qureshi's statement came after Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry took to the twitter on Tuesday and announced that the government was considering complete closure of airspace to India and complete ban on use of Pakistan land routes for Indian trade to Afghanistan.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday called UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to apprise him about the "evolving and delicate situation" in Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing the media here to provide details of his conversation with Guterres, Qureshi said it was the responsibility of the international community to play a role in addressing the Kashmir situation.
Pakistan wants talks with India on the "basis of equality" and in a "dignified manner" and has said it's up to New Delhi to decide whether it wants to engage with Islamabad to reconcile issues.
Tensions between the two countries worsened after the Pulwama terror attack and both the countries were almost on the brink of a war after India's military planes struck a terrorist training camp in Pakistan's Balakot on February 26 and Pakistan carried out a counter-offensive the next day.
His remarks came two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday led his Bharatiya Janata Party towards a super-sized victory for a second term in office.
Qureshi's remarks drew sharp criticism from India with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj saying his comments "exposed" him and that Pakistan has "no respect for Sikh sentiments".
Earlier on Friday, Qureshi had claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan has "bowled a googly at India by opening the Kartarpur corridor."
“Mr.Foreign Minister of Pakistan - Your 'googly' remarks in a dramatic manner has exposed none but YOU. This shows that you have no respect for Sikh sentiments. You only play 'googlies',” Sushma Swaraj tweeted.
Qureshi said that opening of the Kartarpur border was a “big achievement” of Imran Khan government.
In its statement, the Pak Foreign Office said; "Pakistan’s Kartarpur Spirit can be a step forward in the right direction from conflict to cooperation, animosity to peace and enmity to friendship."
He added that it would be wrong to expect that all the differences between the US and Pakistan could be resolved in a day.

Qureshi who left for Pakistan after his meetings with Trump administration officials said it is unfortunate that the two countries are not engaging.
Qureshi arrived in Washington D.C. on Sunday for talks on bilateral relations with US officials following his trip to New York for the 73rd UN General Assembly session. He is expected to meet Pompeo and Bolton on Tuesday, Dawn news said in the report.
After making her statement in the SAARC meet, Sushma Swaraj left the venue and did not wait for Pakistan's Foreign Minister Qureshi to present his statement.
Qureshi alleged that “internal pressure” forced New Delhi to cancel the meeting between the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan in New York later this month.

"We are engaged in the matter," he said when asked about reports that Qureshi and Swaraj may hold a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the UNGA and whether both sides have formally approached each other.
Qureshi, who was sworn-in as Pakistan’s Foreign Minister on Monday, further said that the “current position of the ties between Pakistan and India was not a secret as peace talks are suspended, but we have to see how we can move forward”.
