Examinations scheduled from January 19 for students of classes 10 and 12 have been postponed, the government said. While a holiday has already been declared for students of classes 1 to 9, physical classes are held in schools only for those in the 10-12 grades.
"Lucknow has reported 2,300 positive cases today, active cases stand at 16,300. Less than 1 per cent of patients are admitted to hospital," Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said today.
Programs can be held with only up to 50 per cent of the seating capacity in closed spaces. Also, sports events can be organised with 50 per cent of the capacity of stadiums.
The state government's order however said that all nursing colleges and medical colleges will remain open.
Schools up to Class 8 in Kamrup-Metropolitan district and up to Class 5 in all other districts will remain closed from January 8.
However, classes 10 and 12 will continue, said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
