The Meghalaya Youth Congress on Monday demanded a CBI probe into the alleged violation of terms and conditions in the bidding document in the allotment of Saubhagya scheme by the National People's Party (NPP)-led state government.
In September 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the ambitious scheme Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana 'Saubhagya' to provide electricity connections to families in rural and urban areas. The deadline for the scheme was March 31, 2019.
Uttar Pradesh is among the states where a large number of households are to be covered under the Saubhagya scheme for providing electricity connections.
RK Singh further said that the Modi government is committed to ensure 24x7 access to electricity for all by March 31, 2019.
Interacting with people ofvillages which were elecrified in the last four years, PM Modi said previous government promised to provide electricity but did little about it.
Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana 'Saubhagya' launched on the birth anniversary of Hindutv icon Deendayal Upadhyaya will entail free electricity connections to poor households, PM Modi said.
