Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati is turning out to be one of the most controversial films of the year.
Ammu, chief media coordinator of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state, said he gave the statement as a "Rajput" and not as an office-bearer of the party.
The scheduled release date of the film, mired in controversy over conjectures that it "distorts history" regarding Rajput queen Padmavati, has been deferred from December 1.

According to reports, the release of "Padmavati" was likely to be pushed ahead in view of the forthcoming elections in Gujarat, over alleged "distortion of facts".
