Sameer Wankhede death threats: A non-cognisable offence was registered under section 507 (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) of the Indian Penal Code, the official said. The cyber cell of Mumbai Police is also conducting a probe into the matter.
Sameer Wankhede was accused by Nawab Malik of getting a job by making a fake caste certificate to become an IRS officer via the reserved category.
Sameer Wankhede news: Complaints filed by Nawab Malik and others regarding the caste claim of Wankhede and regarding the religion of the caste certificate are not substantiated.
This comes days after the Narcotics Control Bureau gave a green signal to Aryan Khan and five others, who were arrested in the case last year in connection to a drugs bust case.
In a major relief, actor Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan has been given a clean chit by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the cruise drug bust case. Aryan Khan was named an accused in the case along with 19 others by the NCB.
The government said it will take appropriate action against Wankhede for allegedly providing a fake caste certificate. Aryan Khan was given a clean chit by the Narcotics Control Bureau in the October 2021 drugs-on-cruise case on Friday.
The vigilance team said there were many flaws in the investigation of Sameer Wankhede's drugs-on-cruise case. The report of the investigation will come out soon.
Notably, Maharashtra cabinet minister Nawab Malik in November last year claimed Wankhede owned a permit room and bar at Vashi in Navi Mumbai, the licence for which was obtained in 1997 when he was a minor, and that this was illegal.
Official sources said Wankhede presented his version and official documents related to the raid, which took place in October last year at the international cruise terminal in Mumbai, before NCB Deputy Director General (DDG) for the northern region Gyaneshwar Singh.
Wankhede has been in the limelight following the high-profile October, 2021 raids by the NCB on a Mumbai cruise after which the agency arrested Aryan Khan, the son of actor Shah Rukh Khan, and around 19 others and claimed to have seized some narcotics too.
Wankhede, a 2008-batch Indian Revenue Service officer, was on deputation to the NCB since September 2020 and is currently Mumbai zonal director of the anti-drugs agency.
Kranti Redkar Wankhede's complaint comes one day after the Bombay High Court refused to refrain Nawab Malik from publishing tweets about the family of Sameer Wankhede.
Sameer Wankhede and his family have repeatedly denied all allegations made by Nawab Malik.
Coming out with fresh allegations against the NCB Mumbai zonal director, Nawab Malik said despite being in a government job, Wankhede holds a licence to operate the permit room which is against service rules.
Referring to the WhatsApp chat, Malik asked why Khan not being questioned in the case.
An FIR was registered against Malik and another person Nishant Verma, at Goregaon police station under Sections 354, 354D, 503 and 506 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and also Section 4 of Indecent Representation of Women Act 1986.
NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede's wife Kranti Redkar, a former actor, said, “I met governor Koshyari with my father-in-law Dnyandev Wankhede and sister-in-law Yasmeen Wankhede."
Earlier, Malik had alleged that Sameer Wankhede was born a Muslim but he forged documents, including a caste certificate, to pass off as a Scheduled Caste (SC) person to get recruitment under quota after clearing the UPSC exams.
Advocate Arshad Shaikh, appearing for Dhyandev Wankhede, told the court that everyday some false and defamatory statement is being made by the defendant (Malik).
Nawab Malik on Monday had asked Wankhede to disclose whether his sister-in-law Harshada Redkar is involved in the drug business or not.
