The latest conversations with the two foreign ministers took place on the sidelines of the India-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers' meeting. Both the ministers are in the Saudi capital to attend ministerial meetings of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Lavrov said PM Modi and President Vladimir Putin also discussed cooperation in multilateral organisations and Russia's support to India's permanent membership in the UNSC. PM Modi and the Russian President discussed ways to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called Taiwan an "integral part of China" and an "internal affair of the People's Republic of China". Taiwan responded angrily, saying the Russia-China collusion does not contribute to stability across the Taiwan Strait.
Lavrov's visit came after Putin considered China for his first foreign visit following his recent election victory. China has bolstered economic ties with Russia after Western countries imposed sanctions on Moscow for invading Ukraine in 2022.
Jaishankar recently said relations between India and Russia have always been stable and friendly and defended India's decision to import Russian oil in the outbreak of the Ukraine conflict. Lavrov compared Jaishankar's defence as "national dignity".
Lavrov is the highest-ranking Russian official attending the G-20 summit that begins on Tuesday.
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov also said that India can mediate between Moscow and Kyiv as the peace talks between the two counties failed to come up with solutions yet to end the war.
Lavrov's visit to India coincides with that of US Deputy National Security Adviser Daleep Singh and British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
