West Indies got knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2024 after losing to South Africa by three wickets. It was a must-win game for them but the Proteas kept their nerves in a close finish. West Indies fought well defending a low total but in the end, they lost and that they ended their journey.
West Indies are already qualified for the Super 8 round of the T20 World Cup but are yet to face Afghanistan in their final group game. The Caribbean side is currently ranked third just ahead of England and the skipper is delighted with the team's progress.
Rovman Powell scored 23 runs off 18 balls on a slow wicket at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The West Indies captain was looking to muscle the ball during the course of his knock but struggled to get the timing right on most of the occasions.
The warm-up matches are currently in progress ahead of the T20 World Cup. Even though most of the matches have been marred by rain, the heavens didn't open up in the game between Australia and West Indies and the latter side won by 35 runs comortably.
Rajasthan Royals messed up a rather comfortable chase against the Sunrisers Hyderabad as they lost by 1 run despite dominating the majority of the second innings. Bhuvneshwar Kumar starred with the ball for the SRH has he dismissed Rovman Powell on the last ball when RR needed 2 runs to win.
