The I-T department released statistics for assessment year 2015-16 showing that 59,830 individuals with gross total income of over Rs 1 crore had a cumulative income of Rs 1.54 lakh crore.
The number of ultra rich in the country is expected to reach 3,72,000 while the total household income is likely to grow by 7.5 percent annually to touch $7.1 trillion by 2022, a Credit Suisse report said.
