Sandip Ghosh, former RG Kar Hospital Principal, was arrested by the CBI on September 14. The CBI is investigating him in two cases - the Kolkata rape and murder case and RG Kar financial irregularities case.
The first round of meetings was held on Monday between the protesting junior doctors and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. After the meeting, Kolkata CP and two health department officials were removed.
The CBI said Sanjay Roy's role in the "commission of crime had already emerged" but Tala Police caused an "unnecessary delay of two days" in seizing his clothes and other belongings which could have resulted in strong evidence against him, the officials said.
On Monday, the Sealdah Court extended the custody of Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and Abhijit Mondal, the officer-in-charge of Tala Police Station, for three more days.
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is facing a big challenge to end the ongoing strike led by the junior doctors in Kolkata, last night announced that Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal will be removed from his post, accepting one of the demands of protesting medics.
A delegation of 35 junior doctors arrived at Banerjee's Kalighat residence at 6:20 p.m. for the crucial talks, which began around 6:50 pm. The meeting ended around 9 pm.

Sandip Ghosh has also been booked by the ED in alleged financial irregularities linked money laundering case after taking cognisance of a CBI FIR. The ex-principal came under the scanner following the rape and murder of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor at the hospital on August 9.
RG Kar rape-murder case: The invitation from Mamata Banerjee comes at a time when the agitating junior doctors continued with their cease work, stating that they would remain steadfast to pursue justice for the medic raped and murdered at the RG Kar hospital.
Despite the Chief Minister's attempts to de-escalate the situation, the junior doctors remained firm on their demand for an official videographer, stalling discussions. The standoff continues, prolonging the strike, which has impacted medical services across the state.
In a significant development, the Sealdah Court in Kolkata rejected the CBI's plea for a narco-analysis test on Roy. The court's decision followed Roy's refusal to undergo the test, which is commonly used to gather additional information in criminal investigations.
Kolkata rape-murder case: The CBI earlier in the day appealed to the city-based Sealdah court seeking permission to conduct the test on Sanjay Roy.
The Supreme Court on Monday directed the CBI to submit a fresh report by September 17 on the probe in the rape and murder case of a postgraduate medic at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Banerjee emphasised her desire for justice for the murdered doctor and expressed deep concern over the incident. She stated that her resignation could be a step towards resolving the situation and ensuring that the case is handled seriously.
