Two main accused in the RG Kar Hospital rape-murder case have been granted bail, sparking a 10-day protest by doctors demanding justice and a thorough investigation.
On November 29, the CBI had filed a chargesheet in connection with the RG Kar Hospital financial irregularities in which it has named former principal of the medical establishment Sandip Ghosh as the prime accused.
RG Kar rape case: During the hearing, the Supreme Court sought to know the status of the trial in the RG Kar incident.
After almost three months of his arrest, the CBI filed a chargesheet with Sandip Ghosh as the prime accused in the alleged financial irregularities case. The court did not accept the chargesheet on the grounds that official approval to file a chargesheet against a state employee was not granted.
The single-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court had ordered the CBI probe which was upheld by the divisional bench later. The West Bengal reached the Supreme Court against the HC order stating that state police are capable of investigating the case.
