A fire in Ahmedabad's Iskon Platina building killed one woman and injured 22 others, with over 200 residents evacuated, as authorities investigate a possible short circuit as the cause.
The incident occurred in Crossing Republik, a township located on National Highway 24/9 in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad.
At least 8 fire engines were present at the site to control the flames.
The cause of the blaze is yet to be known but it appears that a short circuit in the apartment led to it.
As per the BMC, the collapse engulfed a nearby residential structure. It also affected another residential structure in the area that is now in a "dangerous condition", the municipal corporation said. Residents from affected structures are being evacuated.
The incident occurred at 9:30 am when the second floor gallery of Amar Sadan building crumbled, Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) chief Santosh Kadam said.
Fire was brought under control by three fire tenders, who were pressed into service after the incident came to light.
