Rajya Sabha has passed the Bill which aims to provide 10 per cent reservation in jobs and education for the general category 'poor'.
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said 400 starred questions and 4600 unstarred questions were answered during the Question Hour. She said 49 members were suspended for unruly behaviour during the session.
The bill, which was tabled in the Lok Sabha, was cleared by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Cabinet on Monday.
The Bill got support of 323 MPs while three voted against it after a marathon debate which continued till 10 pm.
The decision to give 10 per cent reservation to poor youths from general category will open a door for their golden future, Amit Shah said.
Attempts were made earlier too by governments at the Centre and states in this regard but failed because they were done either through common statutory provisions or notifications, Jaitley said.
"Narendra Modi is the Ambedkar of 21st century. Son of poor parents himself, he has thought about the poor of all sections of the society," the chief minister told reporters."
