Businessman Ratul Puri on Friday filed a regular bail plea in the MoserBaer bank fraud case. Special CBI Judge Sanjay Garg has issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate seeking its reply on the plea filed by Puri through his counsel Vijay Aggarwal. The court has now posted the matter for hearing on Saturday. In October this year, the Enforcement Directorate filed a chargesheet in the case before the same court. The chargesheet names Puri and the MoserBaer firm.
Puri moved the bail plea through advocate Vijay Agarwal on Saturday, saying he was not required for further investigation and no purpose will be served by keeping him in custody.
he charge sheet was filed before Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar and slated the matter for hearing post lunch. This is the sixth supplementary charge sheet in the case and the first against Ratul Puri. Besides Puri, one more accused has been named in the charge sheet.
Special judge Arvind Kumar sent Puri to jail after the Enforcement Directorate moved an application seeking extension of Puri's judicial custody. The ED arrested Puri on September 4.
Puri, who has been an executive director in Moser Baer, was arrested by the agency in this case in August and is at present in judicial custody. He and his family have denied any wrongdoing on their part.
The ED filed charge sheet against Puri and company Moser Baer before Special Judge Sanjay Garg and the court is scheduled to take up the matter later in the day.

An ED source related to the probe told IANS: "Investigation has revealed that Moser Baer had bought Blue Ray discs from Pacific International FZE, a company of Rajiv Saxena, which purchased the same from Singulus Technologies, Germany."

The same court sent Puri into 6-day custody on Monday. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him in connection with Rs 354 crore bank fraud case. Puri also faces allegations of receiving kickbacks in AugustaWestland deal. A Non-Bailable Warrant had been issued against him.
“I have no connection with the business they are doing. To me, it appears to be a purely mala fide action. I have full faith that courts will take corrective stand in this,” Kamal Nath told reporters.
