The Samajwadi Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance on Thursday announced its first list of 29 candidates for the first phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly polls. Of the 29 seats, the SP has fielded candidates on 10 and the RLD on 19, according to a list shared on social media by the two parties which had announced a tie-up last year.
Jayant Chaudhary was on Tuesday appointed as the new national president of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), according to a party statement. His elevation to the post comes following the demise of party president and his father Ajit Singh, who had succumbed to COVID-19 on May 6.
The papers filed by Suman Diwakar, a joint candidate of the RLD-SP from Aligarh's Iglas Assembly seat were rejected by the Returning Officer for lack of documents.
SP, BSP and RLD had contested separately in 2017 and their vote share has been added up now to show the alliance vote share.
