The Congress on Saturday attacked the government for allowing cutting of over 1 crore trees for development projects since 2014 as the party wondered if the "BJP is destroying our future".
After a crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha election 2019, there is turmoil in the Congress party with its president Rahul Gandhi insisting on resignation. Meanwhile, Delhi Congress president Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday urged Gandhi to take back his decision to quit.
“The entire world knows Rahul Gandhi is an Indian citizen by birth. Modi ji has no answer for unemployment; Modi ji has no answer for agrarian distress and black money. That's why he's resorting to fake narrative through his government's notices to divert attention,” party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Addressing a press conference, party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said the Modi government would need “20 years” to double the income of farmers, as against the Centre’s promise of achieving the feat by 2022.
Congress' chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, addressing a press conference, also claimed that the prime minister continued to "have tea, samosas, at seven o'clock in a PWD guest house when every single Indian household didn't have food".
"While the BJP is creating trouble and the CPM has failed to maintain law and order in the state,” said Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a bad habit of speaking lies. It seems he is not able to get rid of his childhood habit," he said, when asked about Modi's allegation.

A plea filed by complainants, the ADCB and its chairman Ajay Patel, contended that the two leaders had levelled "false and defamatory allegations" against the bank.
Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the court's decision is a huge victory for the DMK and recalled that party chief Rahul Gandhi had strongly supported the idea of a memorial for Karunanidhi on the Marina beach.

The three accused, held for their alleged roles in leaking the Class XII Economics paper, have denied any link with the CBSE official, suspended for ‘laxity’ in his duty.
Surjewala's remarks came after the prime minister flew by a seaplane from the Sabarmati river front in Ahmedabad to about 180 km Dharoi in Mehsana district on the last day of the election campaign in Gujarat.
Taking a dig at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Surjewala said, "Mr Jaitley, do remember that Moodys, S&P and other rating agencies defaulted in rating American sub-prime mortgages...before the economic meltdown."
