President Pranab Mukherjee will move in to 10, Rajaji Marg mansion in Lutyens' Delhi as he moves out of the grand Rashtrapati Bhawan.
President Pranab Mukherjee addressed MPs at the farewell function in Central hall of the Parliament house on Sunday.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister presented a memento to the outgoing President, the PMO said. Mukherjee also signed the visitors' book.
Kothari, a 1978-batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre, retired in June last year as DoPT secretary. He was in November 2016 appointed as the chief of the government’s head-hunter the PESB.
The 30-minute military ceremony has been held every Saturday for the public since 2007.
According to EC data, Kovind’s immediate predecessor Pranab Mukherjee (2012) secured 69.31% votes while Pratibha Patil (2007) got 65.82% of the total votes, marginally higher than the share secured by Kovind.
“We look forward to working with president-elect on regional and global issues,” State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said.
