Congress leader and SC/ST rights activist Udit Raj said on Friday that a rally will be organised to raise the issues of privatisation, unemployment, EVM tampering and the "threat to Constitution and democracy", which the BJP government has "failed" to address.
"We organised a rally to spread the ideals and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. It was Gandhi Vichar Sandesh Padyatra, not a protest against anyone. But police thrashed the activists with lathis and tortured them," Youth Congress national secretary Dr Smruti Ranjan Lenka told reporters.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address four poll rallies in Haryana. Of this, he will be addressing two on October 14 in Ballabgarh and Faridabad, and two others in Thanesar and Hisar.

Addressing the gathering in Jarar Mandi in Bah tehsil, around 70 km from Agra city, Priyanka Gandhi said: "The public resources are being spent on massive publicity campaigns. From food packets to radio and TV, there was publicity for the BJP everywhere.
“When Modi comes back again then their corruption will be completely finished, their dynastic politics will be finished, their loot in name of poor will stop,their politics of case and religion will stop,'tukde tuke gang bhi tukde tukde ho kar bikhar jaeyga,” PM Modi said.
Modi's Kolkata rally will be the first covered rally in the history of Brigade Parade Ground, that has hosted several rallies over the decades. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's mega anti-BJP rally on January 19, that brought leaders of 23 opposition parties on one stage, was also held.
The prime minister is scheduled to address the rally at the district's Rudrapur city at 11 am, Pradesh BJP working president Naresh Bansal told reporters in Dehradun.
A meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and a public rally, with party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi among the key speakers, will be held here on March 12.
The rally is aimed at energising party workers and supporters ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2019.
