Delhi-NCR to witness light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms today: IMD

Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rain is expected from January 24 to 27.
The weather department also said that due to the variation in the easterly wind speed, light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal regions from January 3 to January 5.
The depression, according to the India Meteorological Department, is likely to move further west-northwestwards and weaken over the southeast Arabian Sea.
Tamil Nadu weather: The rainfall is expected in the state due to a low pressure formed in the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Equatorial Indian ocean and this impact would turn into showers across the state.
The districts that were issued red alert are Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Chennai, Kallakurichi, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts of Tamil Nadu.
The northeast monsoon, which was not active in November with the state having a deficit rainfall, the weather department forecasts that in December it is likely to make up the shortfall.
Tamil Nadu weather: IMD, however, said that it was monitoring its impact on the state.
Karnataka rains: The rains are going to lash coastal districts of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi besides hilly regions of Shivamogga, Kodagu and Hasan.
Tamil Nadu rains: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in several districts on Saturday.
Tamil Nadu rains: Schools and colleges located in Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Sivaganga, Dindigul, Madurai, and other districts have declared a holiday on Friday.
This follows a heavy to very high rainfall alert in these districts. In a statement, the IMD said that the weather system is likely to move towards Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and this may cause heavy to very heavy rainfall, especially in Chennai and adjoining districts.
East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu, who took stock of the situation on Tuesday, appealed to the people living in these areas to refrain from venturing into the river.

The incident occurred on between 3 to 4 p.m. and the victims, identified as Piyush, Varun, Rahul, Ajit, Deva, and Durgesh, were residents of Shankar Vihar colony located near the village.

Gurugram rain: The incessant rainfall has resulted in waterlogging on the Delhi-Jaipur expressway, Manesar, Begumpur Khatola and Kherki Daula.
