The principal bench of NGT headed by its Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel was hearing an application moved by Dr Bishwanath Prasad Singh against the Greater Noida Development Authority and other respondents in order to avoid the blockage of rainwater drainages in the city.

Earlier on Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather forecast report predicting heavy rain showers in several Indian states for the next five days.
Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are also likely to occur during heavy rainfall, the IMD said in a statement.
On Saturday, the minimum temperature in the national capital was 29.8 degrees Celsius, three notches above the average.
The formation of a Low Pressure Area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea around Feb 28 will lead to enhanced rainfall activity over Andaman-Nicobar Islands on Sunday and Monday over Tamil Nadu-Puducherry-Karaikal during Mar 2-4.
Apart from this, another Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from February 6, the IMD has said.
The Weather Department has predicted a cloudy sky for Delhi till January 9.
Heavy rainfall has caused waterlogging, traffic congestion in several parts of Chennai. Red alert has been issued in Chennai and surrounding districts of Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, and Chinglepet.
Rainwater entered homes in different residential colonies at Hayat Nagar, where some residents complained that their household items were washed away.
Clear skies greeted Delhi on Sunday, but the IMD has predicted the possibility of thunderstorms later in the day.
