Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who addressed the media on the projects approved by the Cabinet, said the department recruited five lakh employees in the last decade – a number slightly higher than the previous decade.
The rail projects will provide impetus to socioeconomic development by facilitating the movement of passengers as well as freight traffic in the region.
The main aim of the rail project is to connect the Middle East with India and Europe and bypass China's wide-ranging strategic infrastructure investments.
