The Maharashtra government has terminated the services of two Juvenile Justice Board members, L N Danwade and Kavita Thorat, following an investigation into their decision to grant lenient bail to a juvenile accused in the Pune Porsche crash case.
This arrest is part of the ongoing inquiry into the high-profile crash, which has drawn significant public and media attention due to the involvement of a minor and the nature of the allegations.
Pune Police filed a 900-page chargesheet naming seven accused, including the minor's parents and two doctors, for allegedly manipulating evidence to save the 17-year-old.
The teenager was detained at an observation home on the order of the Juvenile Justice Board. He was earlier granted bail in the case but was later sent to the observation home for 14 days till June 5.
Earlier on June 21, the father of the minor accused was granted bail in the primary case where he was booked under sections 75 & 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
The teen, who the police claim was drunk and driving the luxury car when it hit a two-wheeler in the early hours of May 19 killing two techies, including a woman, is lodged at an observation home in Pune.
On May 19, hours after the crash, the 17-year-old accused was released with certain conditions. Subsequently, his release triggered a public uproar. Later, the boy was taken back into custody and sent to an observation home.
