Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was started by the government in 2015. The mission of this yojana is to construct a house for poor people who don’t have their own house which is beneficial for both urban and rural areas.
The Cabinet approved continuation of the scheme from April 2024 to March 2029. The two crore houses proposed are expected to benefit nearly 10 crore individuals.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: The mission launched by the Centre is expected to be completed by December this year with the target to construct 29.3 million houses for all rural poor.
The function will witness traditional celebrations with conch, lamp, flowers, and rangoli being organized in new houses.
Union Housing & Urban Affairs Ministry said that out of the 1.14 cr sanctioned houses, over 89 lakh have been grounded for construction and 52.5 lakh completed and delivered to the beneficiaries.
