From 2022 to 2023, China, India, Iran, Indonesia, and Russia saw the largest increases in emissions, while Venezuela, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States recorded the most significant declines in pollution levels.
India achieved a 19.3% reduction in particulate pollution in 2022, the second-largest global decrease after Bangladesh, according to the "Air Quality Life Index" 2024 report by EPIC. This drop has increased the average life expectancy of Indians by one year.
