A low-pressure system named "Boris" caused the worst flooding in more than two decades from Romania to Poland over the past week, and also affected Italy's Emilia-Romagna region. Seven people were killed each in Poland and Romania, and five in Austria and Czech Republic each.

India welcomed thousands of Polish children escaping Soviet repression during World War II. These children were later shifted to Valivade camp in Kolhapur, and the memorial in Warsaw was set up by the people who spent their childhood there.

PM Modi said India's relationship with Poland is strong because of the efforts made by Jam Saheb Maharaja Digvijay Singh. The Prime Minister also visited the latter's son and Jam Saheb Shri Shatrusalyasinhji in Jamnagar on Thursday.
