Astronomers have discovered 139 new trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) -- minor planets located in the far reaches of the solar system.
This new world is "an extraordinary candidate" for this process, said Hubert Klahr of Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Germany, part of the research team. "This find prompts us to review our models."
The planets are located only 12.5 light years away orbiting the Teegarden star -- a red dwarf in the direction of the constellation of Aries, according to the study published in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics.
An international team of astronomers has discovered a so-called "super-Earth" that could contain liquid water, a situation that would make it a very good candidate for harbouring life.
A team of astronomers led by the team from Goddard Space Flight Centre in Maryland have used data from NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope to identify a huge planet, almost the size of Jupiter, that orbits two Suns simultaneously.
London, Oct 16: A planet with four suns has been identified by two astronomers. The bright new world, just under 5,000 light years away, is believed to be six times the size of Earth, The Independent
