BJD candidate Rudra Pratap Maharathy wins Pipili by-poll by over 20,000 votes

The Pipili assembly segment is considered as the fort of the ruling BJD as its member Pradeep Maharathy won the seat five times in a row from 2000.
The by-election was necessitated following the death of BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy in October last year.
