The number of pilgrims who paid obeisance to Lord Shiva at Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir crossed the 4.5 lakh mark on Saturday as more than 7,500 yatris had darshan of the naturally formed ice lingam, officials said.
Amarnath Yatra 2024: Over 124 'langars’ (community kitchens) have been set up along both the routes and also at the transit camps and the cave shrine. Over 7,000 ‘Sevadars’ (Volunteers) are serving the Yatris during this year’s Yatra.
Amarnath Yatra 2024: More than 3.50 lakh people have registered for this year's yatra. As many as 125 community kitchens 'langars' have been set up along the two routes to the cave shrine and are supported by over 6,000 volunteers.
Amarnath Yatra 2024: The 52-day pilgrimage will commence from the twin tracks- the traditional 48 km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag and the 14 km shorter but steep Baltal route in Ganderbal- on Saturday (June 29).
The biscuits will be distributed at various points from Pamba to Sannidhanam. The TDB has also arranged medicinal water along with the biscuits for the pilgrims.
The viewpoint will provide pilgrims with a chance to experience the beauty of Mount Kailash without having to undertake the arduous journey to the mountain itself.
Amarnath Yatra 2023: The annual pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high holy cave shrine of Amarnath in the south Kashmir Himalayas is scheduled to start on July 1.
The situation had forced officials to issue warnings over loudspeakers and written notices over the imposition of Rs 1,000 fine for pilgrims who were responsible for discarding clothes in the rivers. However, these warnings have largely gone unheeded.
Kedarnath Yatra 2023: The pilgrims will get better medical care this time with the deployment of 22 doctors and an equal number of pharmacists along the yatra route.
The pilgrims would go to Dera Sahib, Panja Sahib, Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur Sahib during their visit.
Andhra Pradesh accident: According to reports, out of 44 pilgrims, at least 20 people including a boy suffered injuries in the mishap. The district administration officials said all the pilgrims travelling in the bus were rescued and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

This year's pilgrimage to the cave shrine comes after a hiatus of three years due to coronavirus pandemic.
