ED initiated investigation against the office bearers, members and cadres of Popular Front of India (PFI) under PMLA, 2002 on the basis of various FIRs registered by the NIA, Delhi and other Law Enforcement Agencies.
In a targeted killing, Srinivasan was hacked to death in Palakkad on April 16, 2022.
The ED has made massive revelations regarding the money trails of the PFI, and said that it received crores of rupees through the hawal channels from the Gulf countries.
The NIA has filed the chargesheet against three accused including Abdul Razzak, Mohamed Yusuf, and Kyzer A for unlawful activities. The probing agency said that they (accused) were running operations across various locations in the state.
NIA took over the case 10 days later and filed charge sheets against 13 suspects on January 7, August 3 and September 1.

ED conducted searches at various locations linked to former members of the PFI across Kerala.

Under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, this was the sixth PFI arms training facility and the 18th property attached by the NIA in Kerala.
