Petrol price touches Rs 80.50/litre in Delhi
Despite the fuel prices touching a new high every other day, the government seems to be non-committal on cutting excise duty to bring the spiralling petrol, diesel prices under control.
In New Delhi, petrol prices were hiked by 16 paise to trade at Rs 79.31 per litre, while diesel is being sold 19 paise higher at Rs.71.34 per litre.
In Mumbai, after an increase of Rs 0.31/litre, petrol touched Rs 86.56/litre. Diesel hiked to Rs 75.54/litre (increase by Rs 0.44/litre).
n Delhi, the diesel prices have been increased to Rs 69.32 per litre, while the fuel can be purchased at Rs 73.01 per litre in Mumbai.
Petrol and diesel prices have been on a steady rise since August 2.
In Delhi, petrol was being sold at Rs 76.78 per litre and diesel Rs 68.35 per litre.
In the national capital, petrol was priced at Rs 76.84 on Monday, 11 paise down from the previous price of Rs 76.95 a litre.
While in Delhi and Mumbai petrol was at Rs 75.85 per litre and Rs 83.24 per litre respectively on July 6, in Kolkata and Chennai, petrol was at Rs 78.53 and Rs 78.72.
The price of petrol in Delhi climbed to Rs 75.71 per litre from Rs 75.55 and diesel to Rs 67.50 a litre from Rs 67.38, according to price notification of Indian Oil Corp (IOC).
There was a reduction of 10 paise per litre in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and 14 paise in Mumbai.
Petrol and diesel price were last revised on June 12 when they were cut by 15 paise and 10 paisa a litre, respectively.

However, despite the cut, petrol prices were hovering above the Rs 80-mark in Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
Prices of both petrol and diesel were cut by 9 paise each to cost Rs 78.20 per litre and 69.11 per litre in Delhi respectively on Saturday.
State-run Indian Oil Corp. Ltd (IOC) reduced diesel and petrol prices by 5 paise and 7 paise per litre, respectively
Rates of LPG cylinders went up by up to Rs 77 on Friday. While subsidised LPG cylinder became dearer by Rs 2.34, non-subsidised cylinder would now cost Rs 48 more.
