On Sunday too, the Taliban had said they have taken control of all districts in Panjshir province, a claim that was denied by resistance forces. Deputy head of the Taliban's cultural affairs commission Ahmadullah Wasiq had said fighting between Taliban fighters and the resistance front was ongoing in central Panjshir.
Resistance forces holed up in the Panjshir Valley against the Taliban have called for a ceasefire. There are reports that Resistance forces leaders have suffered heavy losses at the weekend. The National Resistance Front said that it has proposed the Taliban stop its military operations in Panjshir and withdraw its forces. The Al-Qaeda has joined the Taliban in the group's offensive in the Panjshir valley, Ahmad Massoud's forces say, Al Arabiya reported.
The valley mounting a concerted resistance effort against the Taliban, Panjshir, has now been cut off from the world as the insurgents have disconnected their telephone and internet services.
A delegation of 40 members of the Taliban met with the resistance forces in Panjshir valley for negotiations. However, the result of the talks is unclear.
