"As I stepped out and breathed the air of freedom at 8 pm yesterday, my first thought and prayers were for the 75 lakh people of the Kashmir Valley, who have been denied their basic freedoms since August 4," he said, referring to the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution and bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir into Union territories.
Chidambaram is being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with granting of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to INX Media while he was the Finance Minister.
"We are not satisfied with the treatment given to him in the prison. He is suffering a lot. He has to be immediately brought under the treatment of noted gastroenterologist in Hyderabad Dr. Nageshwara Reddy as he knows about his health as he had treated him in 2016," a source said.

The CBI had on Friday filed a review petition in the apex court challenging the three-judge high court bench order that granted bail to Chidambaram in INX Media case.

The trial court had earlier said that the allegations against Chidambaram were found serious, therefore, he was remanded to police custody. It had said the CBI had apprehension that because of Chidambaram's status and his position, the investigation may be hampered by the accused.
