Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The elections for the 18th Lok Sabha will begin on April 19 (Friday) followed by subsequent phases on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. The entire election process, from the announcement of polls to the declaration of results, lasts 82 days.
The I.N.D.I.A. bloc, which aimed to unite the entire opposition nationwide, has faced a significant setback in Jharkhand as well. The CPI has declared its decision to part ways with the alliance and contest the elections independently.
The meeting comes after it was revealed that each party in the alliance will have their own manifesto, however, the bloc will work for a common agenda.
In 2019, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) led by Prakash Ambedkar contested the Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra independently and dented the Congress' prospects in some seats.
Several top leaders including Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge will participate in the discussion on the Zoom app. Meanwhile, national presidents of major parties of I.N.D.I alliance are also likely to join, as per sources.
On alliance with the I.N.D.I.A bloc, Ghosh said that TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has already confirmed that the party will be supporting the Opposition bloc in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
After the meeting with Bihar Congress leaders, party chief Kharge said that every worker of his party is ready to reach out to the people and live up to the aspirations of the people of Bihar for progress, prosperity and peace of the state.
JD(U) MP Sunil Kumar Pintu claimed that there was no substantial discussion in the meeting. He further stated that parties had to discuss on seat sharing but that could also not be done.
In a statement, I.N.D.I.A parties condemned in the strongest possible terms the suspension of 142 of its MPs from both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. The bloc held its fourth meeting on Tuesday in New Delhi.

So far, the I.N.D.I.A. bloc has 26 parties and is eyeing to induct more regional parties. Sources said the BRS and the Akali Dal are also in touch with the alliance. The alliance will be strengthened in Telangana and Punjab if they come into the fold.
According to the Prime Minister, the Opposition has been following the ideology of "appeasement" whereas the NDA alliance works on the principle of "gratification".
