Schools in eight NCR districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddh Nagar, have suspended physical classes due to worsening air quality under GRAP Stage-4 measures. Measures include construction bans and penalties for pollution violations.
Schools closure: Delhi's air quality plummeted to alarming levels on Monday, leaving people gasping for breath with itchy eyes and sore throats as the Air Quality Index stood at 494, the second-worst in the last six years, prompting authorities to close the schools in the region.
Due to severe pollution levels, the Delhi government has decided to suspend in-person classes for all students, except those in classes 10 and 12.

Delhi School Closure: According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the city's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was worsened to a 'severe-plus 468, triggering grave health concerns.
Lucknow news: The order read, "It will be the responsibility of the school management to make adequate arrangements to protect students from cold in the classrooms and it should be ensured that room heaters etc are used to maintain normal temperature in each room."
