The so-called "red setting" of the country's pandemic response includes heightened measures such as required mask wearing and limits on gatherings, and the restrictions will go into effect on Monday.

Dr Harsh Mahajan, the founder and chief radiologist at Mahajan Imaging also said that all sub-variants of Omicron can be detected by the RT-PCR test.
Dr Sriram Subramaniam, professor in UBC faculty of medicine’s department of biochemistry and molecular biology, said that Omicron has greater binding affinity than the original SARS-CoV-2 virus, with levels more comparable to what seen with the Delta variant.
The govt said still passengers found to be symptomatic during screening will be immediately isolated and taken to a medical facility.

The study was conducted at the leading Italian research institute for infectious diseases, by a joint Italian-Russian team of researchers representing the Institute and the Gamaleya Center in the equal laboratory conditions on comparable sera samples from individuals vaccinated with Sputnik V and Pfizer with a similar level of IgG antibodies and virus neutralising activity (VNA) against Wuhan variant, said a report.
