Commuters in Delhi-NCR on Monday complained of a surge in cab fares, as the Delhi government implemented the odd-even scheme to tackle the severe air pollution in the national capital. However, there were no complaints of price surge or unavailability with auto-rickshaws.
Bengaluru-based Ola has been working on turning profitable as it plans to launch an IPO in the next few years.
Ola said it intends to host a fleet of 20,000 cars by 2020 to build and scale up the Ola Drive service across several Indian cities.
For the past three weeks, drivers from across these communities have been busy in training, after local councils granted Ola with both taxi and private hire licenses - a first for these areas, it said in a statement.
"Ola has expanded its Ola Bike offering to 150 cities across the country, strengthening its position as India's largest player in the micro-mobility space...(Ola)plans to scale up its presence and introduce the category in hundreds of new towns and cities...grow 3X over the next 12 months," a statement said.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked Centre to take appropriate steps for regulating app-based taxi services like Ola and Uber, in view of women safety.
The licence paves way for Ola to launch its ride-hailing service in London which is estimated to have 8 million population.
"GoaMiles is not opposing Ola or Uber. That is the decision of the government at the end of the day. We are very comfortable with that," Hemant Prabhu Chodnekar, Operations Manager of GoaMiles told IANS

The Karnataka government on Sunday allowed cab aggregator Ola to resume its service which was suspended two days back for running bike taxis without permission.
Cab hailing service Ola has beed suspended from operating in Bengaluru for six months. The decision was taken by Karnataka's Regional Transport Office for violating its license conditions. Ola has issued a statement saying "working to find a solution".
Under the partnership, the three companies will also aim to develop electric vehicles (EVs) and charging infrastructure customised for Indian market, the companies said in joint statement on Tuesday.

According to sources, the allotment of these shares to Steadview is part of the ride hailing company's plans of raising about USD 1 billion in funding.
A 23-year-old woman while going for a job interview was thrown off the Ola bike and broke her right leg after the driver hit a stationary rickshaw from behind.
The company said it plans to expand the UK operations nationwide by the end of this year.
The issue soon took the social media by storm and snowballed into a controversy as the person came under attack from twitteratis and politicians.
The strike has been called by the Maharashtra Navnirman Vahtuk Sena which has claimed that several drivers are not being able to cover costs due to falling business.
Naik alleged that the taxi-hailing companies are giving first priority to company-owned cars rather than driver-owned vehicles, causing a slump in their business.
