Besides the Centre and the EC, the notice has also been issued to the state government and the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India.
Several BJP leaders, including state party president Dilip Ghosh, national secretary Rahul Sinha and state observer Kailash Vijayvargiya have fiercely backed the Assam NRC and repeatedly stressed that it was required in Bengal to drive out all the "illegal settlers" from Bangladesh.
"Bengal has protested against the situation in Assam and will continue to do so. We all are Indian citizens. If they try to drive out even a single Indian citizen, we will not spare them," she said.
Banerjee said those who have been staying in the country for years were "branded as infiltrators". She alleged that BJP has carried out the exercise with an eye on the Lok Sabha elections 2019.
"Unfortunately, most Indian citizens left out of the draft National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam speak Bengali (language)... Out of over 40 lakh persons left out, around 25 lakh are Hindus and 13 lakh Muslims who speak Bengali," she told repor
“The matter of Tripe Talaq is not about a particular religion or caste. I would urge parties to stop politicising it,” union minister said.
Congress leader also alleged that BJP is playing politics with both-Hindus and Muslims.
The Congress will always stand by genuine Indian citizens and provide help legally and politically, he added.
Tarun Gogoi alleged that the ruling government was not interested in solving the problem of infiltration and wants to use it as an election agenda in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 and state elections.
On Monday, Banerjee penned a poem, taking a swipe at the BJP and slamming the NRC.
"Complying with Supreme Court orders we brought NRC. The NRC is a way to evict illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from Assam. I would like to ask SP, BSP & Congress to clear their stand on whether they want illegal Bangladeshi immigrants to stay here or evict them," said Shah.
"The Shah of lies and the Shahenshah of Jumlas tried their best to stall NRC. I will tell you how they hatched a conspiracy to stop, delay and disrupt the NRC process," said Khera, reported news agency PTI.
Singh also reiterated that this was not the final NRC, but a draft and adequate time would be given to settle all claims and objections.
The delegation had arrived to assess the situation in Assam in the wake of the publication of the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Despite the government making it clear that there was no need to panic and those who have been excluded in the NRC draft list won't be asked to leave the country, the Opposition continues to claim that an attempt was being made to divide the nation.
The CWC is the highest decision-making body of the party.
Out of 40 lakh people, who don't find themselves in the final draft of the NRC published on July 30, only one per cent could be infiltrators, but the BJP is trying to project as if all of them are infiltrators.
The opposition parties are alleging that people belonging to a particular religion have been deliberately left out from NRC.
Attacking BJP, Mamata Banerjee said that the saffron party is trying to divide the country and added that this will not be tolerated.
The Congress in Assam has never won polls on the votes of Bangladeshi people, Gogoi said, asserting both he and the present chief minister have won elections held on the basis of the same voters’ list.
