Preparing itself for no-confidence motion, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Wednesday issued a three-line whip to its MPs in Lok Sabha asking them to be present in the house on Thursday and Friday.
The AAP has issued whip to its Lok Sabha MPs asking them to support the no-confidence motion against the Modi govt.
Sources said it was BJP president Amit Shah who advised the Government to go ahead and face the no-confidence as it will then render the Opposition's ploy to corner it in Parliament as fruitless.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena is yet to decide that whether it will support the government or not.
Lok Sabha elections 2019: Meanwhile, commenting on Sonia Gandhi’s statement that the principal opposition party has the numbers, Union minister Ramdas Athawale on Wednesday said such “overconfidence” is of no use.
The Lok Sabha will take up the debate on the no confidence motion on Friday, July 20th. The discussion will be held for the full day, followed by voting on it.
Lok Sabha elections 2019: “Congress had shown similar kind of arrogance during Atal Ji's tenure and they had to face the consequences. Indians have elected PM Modi as their leader and he has their confidence. We are ready to face them,” said D Pradhan.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said that the date and timing of discussion over no-confidence motion will be decided later.
"The BJP and the NDA will face the no-confidence motion, which the opposition wants to bring, under the leadership of Prime MInister Narendra Modi," Kumar told media.
A number of opposition parties had given notices for no confidence motion during the Budget session, but Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had rejected all of them.
The meetings that took place at the Central Hall of Parliament were aimed at garnering support for the no-confidence motion moved by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Telugu Desam Party (TDP), YSR Congress, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPIM) and Congress have given separate notices of no-confidence against the BJP-led central government in the Lok Sabha.
The second half of the budget session of Parliament has been a complete washout since the commencement of protests from the Congress, AIADMK, TDP and the YSR Congress Party on various issues stalling the proceedings.
TDP and YSR Congress have submitted three requests to move no-confidence motion against the Modi government, protesting non-implementation of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
