The newly constituted three-judge bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice R Banumathi comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan and AS Bopanna on Wednesday heard the review petition of Akshay Kumar Singh, one of the convicts in the 2012 Delhi gang rape case.
According to the official, 1,3000 marshals are currently deployed every day in all DTC and cluster buses, a move also directed at ensuring women safety.
Many people have come forward and shown willingness to carry out the execution, after it was known that the Tihar jail does not have a hangman.
Pawan Kumar, the fourth-gen hangman from Meerut, on Saturday told IANS, "Now I won't be talking much on mobile or to the media till the final orders on execution of the Nirbhaya case convicts come."
The death countdown has pushed convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya rape and murder case under depression, jail sources told PTI on Friday. Sources revealed all the four convicts have also reduced their food intake.
Nirbhaya, a 23-year-old paramedic, was brutally gang-raped on December 16, 2012, inside a running bus by six people in Delhi. The shocking incident left the nation stunned and forced the government to tighten the rape laws.

Claiming that he didn't authorise the mercy plea sent to the President, one of the Nirbhaya rape convicts Vinay Sharma is seeking immediate withdrawal of his mercy petition. He has said that the mercy plea sent to the President by Union Home Ministry wasn't signed and authorized by him.

Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal has recommended rejecting the mercy plea of one of the convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape case, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday, while the victim's mother expressed anguish over her "endless wait for justice".
The Delhi Government on Sunday has recommended the rejection of the petition of one of the convicts in the Nirbhaya gang-rape murder case, who had applied for mercy petition.
The decision was taken in a meeting between the convicts and their lawyers in Tihar Jail on Friday, after the Tihar jail administration issued a notice to all four on October 28 saying that they had seven days to file a mercy petition to the President.
The awards, which were announced by the city-based leading cultural organisation Asia Society here on Wednesday, will be presented at a special ceremony next month.
"Being a blind case, this case was tough to crack from the very beginning. The case was important for me both personally and professionally because it put to test all my professional knowledge, field experience, personnel management and leadership skills to test," said Sharma who was also the central character on a recent web series focussing on the case.

As per the data, the corpus transferred to the Public Account for the Nirbhaya Fund up to 2018-19 was Rs 3,600 crore out of which since 2015, the central government was only able to release Rs 1,513.40 crore till December 2018.
