The National Green Tribunal has directed the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to launch prosecution and issue directions for closure of Ansal Properties and Infrastructure Ltd's Sushant Lok-Phase I residential complex in Gurgaon for violation of environmental norms.
A bench, headed by Justice R F Nariman, sought response from Vedanta on the state government's appeal against the National Green Tribunal's (NGT's) order to reopen the plant.

The Supreme Court had then ordered the company to pay Rs 100 crore as compensation for polluting environment. Following the latest protests and police firing, the plant was closed on March 27.
A Supreme Court bench led by Justices Goel and U U Lalit had on March 20 gave a verdict related to the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The bench ruled that government servants should not be arrested without prior sanction and private citizens too, can be arrested only after an inquiry.
The green panel directed National Mission for Clean Ganga to install display boards at a gap of 100 kilometres, indicating whether the water was fit for bathing or drinking.
Khud had supplied drinking water to the city of Shimla till last year.
