Medical entrance exam NEET-UG with over 24 lakh candidates appearing for it has become a centre of controversy over allegations of several irregularities and has triggered protests across the country and a political slugfest.
The NEET-UG exam was conducted by NTA on May 5 at 4,750 centres across India and nearly 24 lakh candidates appeared. The results were announced on June 4 in which as many as 67 students scored a perfect 720 marks (100 per cent), unprecedented in NTA’s history.
The Centre has informed the Supreme Court that the decision to grant grace marks to over 1,500 candidates has been revoked. These candidates will now have the option to appear in the re-exam, which is scheduled to take place on June 23.
