The joint team of four security forces were out on an anti-Naxalite operation in the hilly forests of Naranpur. The forces in operation included District Reserve Guards, STF, BSF and ITBP.
The joint forces of Chaibasa Police, CoBRA, Jharkhand Jaguars, and CRPF conducted an operation after getting intelligence inputs. While five Naxalites were neutralised in the encounter, two were arrested after they tried to flee from the site.
The encounter ensued while the joint teams of District Reserve Guards pf four districts and 45th battalion of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were out on an anti-Naxalite operation.
Earlier on May 9, 6 Naxalites carrying a bounty of Rs. 36 lakh over them surrendered to the police in Sukma, Chhattisgarh. The Naxalites surrendered after getting inspired by the 'Puna Narkom' rehabilitation program for Naxals.
Chhattisgarh encounter: Intermittent firing is still underway and further details are awaited. No harm was reported to security personnel in the incident so far.
During the encounter, the police successfully seized two weapons along with a substantial quantity of ammunition from the Naxalites. The operation signifies a significant blow to the insurgent group's activities in the region.
Chhattisgarh: The bodies of two women Naxalites, along with one Insas rifle and one 12-bore rifle were recovered from the spot after guns fell silent, the official said.
