"Let them do it, we will see. I will see who is ready to hoist their flag here. So don't do such things that break our hearts. Try joining the hearts, not breaking them," he said.
"The claims of Modi on providing jobs turned out to be a mere slogan. The prices of commodities are soaring. Perhaps the biggest ever failure of this government is its sheer failure to control the prices of petroleum products, including cooking gas," the NC leader said.
Abdullah, who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the Srinagar constituency, said the BJP-led central government carried out the aerial strike as the Prime Minister had "failed" in delivering on his promises made during the last general elections in the country.
In his over 40-year-long political career, Abdullah, now 82, has lost only one election. That was in 2014 when Tariq Hameed Karra of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated him in Srinagar.
There is no other goal (in entering into an alliance with the Congress)," Abdullah told reporters here while kickstarting campaigning of the joint candidates.
The development comes ahead of post-Friday prayers protests called by separatists against the custodial death of Rizwan Asad Pandit, a 28-year-old private school teacher.
Twenty-two workers of various political parties joined the National Conference (NC) on Monday in presence of its provincial president Devender Singh Rana and pledged to work for serving the people as per policies and programmes of the party.
Faesal, who is speculated to be joining the National Conference, also said that he would not be joining any political party "as of now."
Adding further, he said the initiative would not only help boost economic activities on both sides of the border, but also help rekindle the flame of friendship between India and Pakistan.

Talking to media at a press conference in Jammu, Abdullah also slammed BJP leader Ram Madhav for suggesting that NC and PDP were acting on behest of 'foreign power'.

They will rebind when their turn comes," he further said.
While the urban local body polls are slated for the first week of October, the Panchayat elections are scheduled to be held in November-December this year.
