Earlier, the TMC moved a notice for statutory resolutions in the Rajya Sabha objecting to the ordinances by the government to extend the tenure of CBI and ED chiefs.
Trinamool ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim, MLA Madan Mitra and former mayor of Kolkata Sovan Chatterjee were arrested on May 17 by the CBI which is investigating the Narada sting tape case on a 2017 order of the High Court.
The Supreme Court on Friday asked the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Law Minister Moloy Ghatak and the State government to approach the Calcutta High Court with their application to take on record their affidavits.
A bench of Justices Hemant Gupta and Aniruddha Bose will be hearing the separate appeals filed by the chief minister, Ghatak and West Bengal Government on Tuesday.
The five-member bench said, "We grant them interim bail with certain conditions and hear the main matter as it will take a week or so. Also the lockdown in West Bengal has been extended."
“We have not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case and our observations do not reflect our views on merits of the matter,” the bench said, adding that the West Bengal and leaders are also free to raise their submissions on the high court
The Calcutta High Court had referred the bail pleas of these four leaders to be heard by a five-judge bench after the split verdict was passed by the two-Judge bench.
